ReviewReviewReviewFirefox 3.0 BetaApr 27, '08 9:37 PM
for everyone
Category:Computers & Electronics
Product Type: Other
Manufacturer:  Mozilla

I've recently installed this browser and I've noticed a few differences from FF2.

I'll have to use it longer to give a more insightful review of this product. For now I'll give it a 3 (out of 5) because half of the add-ons (eg, Firebug which I find very useful) I've installed with FF2 are not compatible with this version.

I'm actually giving this a try because of one add-on that works only with this version and that is the Internet Explorer (IE) tab. It lets you use IE using Firefox. Confusing eh? lol. This way I get to open two accounts (say, Multiply) without opening IE. And did I forget to mention that it loads a lot faster than using the actual IE? Ok, this is starting to sound like a review for the add-on rather than the browser. lol

I'll make updates regarding the browser as replies to this post. Meanwhile, you may wanna try it keeping in mind that this is Beta version.

The IEtab works in the FF version 2 also. I have it insatlled to where I can switch back and forth. Let us know what you think of the beta version.

It does? I tried installing the add-on and it says it's not compatible with FF2. Hm? Did I do anything FF wasn't happy about? lol

Yeah...it does work in FF2. I've had it installed for quite awhile now and come in handy when you have to view pages in both browsers.

This is what I get when I'm trying to run FF2.

And this is what I get with FF3.

I just looked and I have IEtab version 1.3.3.20070528 installed on my FF2. The FF forum mentions that version isn't compatible with FF2 but is for the beta FF3 though.

Here are the IEtab Versions

So, you used the older version of the add-on?

I kinda took heed of their warning:

Be Careful With Old Versions
These versions are displayed for reference and testing purposes. You should always use the latest version of an add-on.

LOL..

Where are your edit links???

The new IEtab 1.5.20080310 isn't compatible with FF2 but the IEtab 1.3.3.20070528 still works in FF2.

It hasn't caused you any problem? Cause when don't find anything useful with this Beta version I'd gladly revert to FF2 and install the older version of IE tab if I had to.

That's the version that I have and why should I update if it the new version is not compatible with the FF2 browser.

I hid em, so people (including me) won't be able to take back what they said. Well they still can, but it'll take em a few clicks to get there. lol Tell me that's not disallowed in MP.lol

Ok. I'll try this Beta version a little longer until I find something that makes it better than version 2.. Thanks for reminding me about the IE tab versions.
